Juneteenth Festival & Unity Day at the Mount Zion Baptist Church
This 2023 Juneteenth Festival will celebrate and educate the community about the origins of Juneteenth and highlight the importance of this addition to America’s History. Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on the 19th day of June to commemorate the Emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. Today, Juneteenth is a national holiday, signed into law by President Biden.
Juneteenth Haiti Focus: The Friday, June 9th night event is designed as a mission in support of national and international intervention in Haiti to end the humanitarian crisis occurring there.
