About the event
Juneteenth Festival & Unity Day at the Mount Zion Baptist Church
This 2023 Juneteenth Festival will celebrate and educate the community about the origins of Juneteenth and highlight the importance of this addition to America’s History. Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on the 19th day of June to commemorate the Emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. Today, Juneteenth is a national holiday, signed into law by President Biden.
Juneteenth Haiti Focus: The Friday, June 9th night event is designed as a mission in support of national and international intervention in Haiti to end the humanitarian crisis occurring there. Gangs have taken over the country, rapes occur weekly, children are starving, and kidnappings are frequent. And the media refuse to offer adequate coverage of this genocide. Therefore, Solidarity with Haiti is critical to that nation’s survival and the thousands of Christians caught in this horrific nightmare. The church’s support undergirds the Juneteenth Festival, and fosters missions, local arts, small businesses, and civic participation. The event FREE to the Public-AT-large to enable everyone in attendance the opportunity to benefit from our programming, regardless of income. Our two-day event will be held on Friday evening, 6pm to 10 pm., June 9th, at our own Performing Arts Center- CLC-353 S New Road and Saturday, and June 17, 2023, at the CLC Performing Arts Center here in Pleasantville, New Jersey., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We will feature entertainment and an all-day Vendors Marketplace along with vendors. We expect upwards of 1200 people to attend.
